If you’re locking in Q3 and Q4 swai orders right now, three developments are worth having on your radar.
Section 301 Forced Labor Tariffs
On June 2, 2026, the USTR proposed additional tariffs on imports from 60 economies long under Section 301, following investigations into forced labor enforcement. Vietnam’s proposed rate is 12.5%. These are not yet in effect. The public comment period closed July 6, with hearings beginning July 7. Final rates have not been determined.
For buyers, the practical implication is timing. Decisions made now on Q4 supply are being made before final rates are set. That uncertainty is worth factoring into your planning horizon.
Section 122 Tariff Expiry
The current Section 122 tariff rate of 10% expires on 12:01 a.m. EDT, July 24, 2026. As with Section 301, the downstream effects on buying patterns and supplier pricing are still working through the market.
Ocean Freight
Freight rates to certain US ports have increased by up to 100%. Coast Beacon has been working to mitigate the impact of this increase for partners. If you have Q3 or Q4 orders that haven’t been confirmed, it’s worth getting in touch early.
What This Means for Your Supply
Coast Beacon sources swai exclusively from Vinh Hoan, which was formally revoked from the antidumping duty order by the Department of Commerce in January 2025. That revocation is permanent — not a temporary zero rate — and applies regardless of how Section 301 rates are ultimately set.
For buyers, that means one significant variable is already off the table. The antidumping duty exposure that affects other swai suppliers does not apply to product sourced through Coast Beacon.
We are monitoring both Section 122 and Section 301 developments and will update partners as final determinations are made.
